This coral, grey, and ivory tweed wool 1950s “car coat” or short jacket has a boxy, slightly swingy shape. A shoulder yoke is created by the curved seam placed below the rounded collar. The jacket fastens at the neck with a single peach plastic button, and overlaps a bit in front. Vertical welted pockets and wide, three-quarter-length sleeves complete the look, which is casually chic—the perfect lightweight coat for throwing on to run errands, or you can easily dress it up with a fancy brooch and long gloves! The jacket is lined with iridescent mauve rayon taffeta. In very good condition, this versatile mid-century coat’s only issue is a bit of faintly visible discoloration along the lower edge of the lining fabric (on lining only).
