This unusual cotton-print 1950s skirt combines a fitted shape from the waist to a horizontal seam at about mid-thigh, and a full-skirted shape from below this seam to the hem. The total length of the skirt is relatively long, with the hem reaching to below the calf on our tall mannequin. This longer length, the style of the white, grey, and lime green floral print, the style of the metal zipper and the single shell button at the waistband, and the feel of the fine, polished cotton fabric, all lead us to date the skirt to the early 1950s. It is unlined, and in near excellent condition, with a tiny bit of faint yellowing along the inner edge of the waistband (see close-up photo). Pair this floral print 1950s cotton skirt with a fitted blouse or sweater, or a cropped top for summer!
