This dramatic, black velvet and taffeta, wide-brimmed hat from the 1960s reminds me of the hats in the film “My Fair Lady”, inspired by the late Edwardian or just pre-WWI Era. The hat features a flat, relatively tall crown and a wide brim, which is turned up at the back, and trimmed with a very large taffeta bow in front. Concentric rings of topstitching encircle the taffeta brim, which is edged with velvet to match the crown. The hat is also lined with black taffeta fabric. It is in very good condition, with some small “scuffs” to the plush surface of the velvet on the crown, most likely from storage—see our side view photo. This issue is fairly common with vintage velvet fabric hats, but it should not really detract from the fabulousness of this 1960s-does-190s-style, wide-brimmed hat.
** Because this hat has a dimension of larger than 12" (width across wide brim), it will require an oversized shipping box--and consequently an increased shipping fee from USPS. Please bear this in mind when thinking about shipping costs. Feel free to contact us with any shipping rate questions! **
