This micro-mini dress from the late 1960s is a cheeky, playfully androgynous style: a sparkly black lurex backless halter minidress with a detachable sequin-trimmed “necktie” and ivory silk satin collar and bodice inset. The black lurex fabric is woven with metallic threads, and is a medium weight. There are small darts at the bust, but the dress is otherwise a gently flared, A-line shape. The dress is lined with black acetate taffeta, except the ivory silk section. The silk collar fastens behind the neck, and the dress is otherwise open in back, until just above the natural waist, where is it fastened with a metal zipper. The “necktie “ is attached with 2 snaps, underneath the collar. The triangular paillettes (or large sequins) decorating the necktie are accented with smaller black sequins around each. The dress length is quite short—looking more like a tunic on our tall mannequin—but it does have a 2.5” hem that could be let down. In good, wearable condition, this fabulous 1960s mod mini dress does have a few issues, as follows. The triangular paillettes (or large sequins) decorating the necktie are accented with smaller black sequins around each. One large black plastic triangle paillette is missing, exposing the sheer fabric underneath—see close-up photo. A handy seamstress could disguise this, either by adding a few large sequins, or more, smaller sequins. The dress has been very carefully hand-washed, (after removing the sequined necktie) and the silk satin fabric is a bit wrinkled, even after our attempts at pressing it. The ivory silk satin collar section has a few tiny rust marks, which are very difficult to see, but still present (see close-up photo with tie removed). Finally, there are a few small snags in the texture of the lurex fabric, unlikely to be noticed when the dress is worn.

This dress was designed to fit relatively loosely, so please bear that in mind when reading the measurements given. We have done our best to estimate fit, but comparing the flat measurements to a similar style dress that fits you well could be helpful, too!
