Size: 9” wide at base (only 3.5” wide at frame) by 8” tall (without strap) by 1.5” deep Strap: 6.25” long. Label: none This late 1930s handbag has large and small paisley designs embossed onto its extra-soft and supple black leather surface, in front. The back of the bag is plain black leather, as is the very short, single strap. The unique shape of the bag is wide and curved at the base, tapering to a very narrow, gold-tone metal frame that opens with a textured metal, “curled” hinged clasp. The smaller size of the handbag makes it more of a cocktail or evening bag, at least by modern standards. The bag is lined with black moiré taffeta, including a gathered pocket on each side. In very good condition, this circa late 1930s purse has some scratches to the metal frame from normal use, and one tiny scuff to the leather at the base (see photo).
