This spectacular 1940s novelty print silk blouse in bright aqua blue and fuchsia pink combines dashing lady equestrians, bathing beauties diving into water, and a filmstrip design. Perhaps the print is referencing the glamorous lives of 1940s Hollywood film stars? Whatever the inspiration, this print is wonderful, and pretty unique! The very lightweight silk fabric is just like that used for 1940s vintage silk scarfs—so fine that almost floats over the body. The blouse has a high, round neck with piping trim, and small gathers in front, where the body of the blouse meets the neckline. Vertical darts shape the waist in front and back, above the straight hem. Under the cap sleeves are are medium-sized shoulder pads, covered in plain white fabric. The blouse fastens in back with pearly white plastic buttons. It is unlined. In very good condition, the blouse has a few tiny, faint spots scattered over the design (see photos: one just below neckline, one at the back of one sleeve, and one near the front waist). There is also a bit of yellowing the edges of the underarms/sleeve openings (see photo). There are no odors; the blouse is clean and ready to wear. The fabric appears strong, and the colors are clear and bright, with no dye bleeding. This true vintage, circa late 1940s silk novelty print blouse would be amazing to wear to a film festival or premiere, don’t you think?
