This forest green rayon gabardine, mid-to-late 1940s dress in a classic, tailored style has a unique, double-pointed collar. The lower points of the collar are a contrasting shade of yellow gabardine, to match the (functional) buttons on the front of the bodice. The cap-sleeved bodice has large shoulder pads, and vertical darts from bust to waist, for shaping. The back of the bodice is gathered where it meets the waist seam, above the self-fabric belt. The gently flared skirt has a single, large patch pocket on the right side, 2 small pleats at the front hem, and a larger, inverted pleat at the center back hem. The dress is unlined, and fastens on the side with a metal zipper. It may be best for a petite size, based on the measurement from the back of the neck to the waist, which is only 15 inches. We have shown the dress in our last photo unpinned and unbelted, to give a better idea of its actual size and shape. This darling 1940s day dress is in excellent condition.
