This deadstock, unworn 1960s mini dress is heavily beaded around the deeply scooped neckline, and around the hem of the A-line miniskirt. The lustrous silk and wool blend shantung fabric is a muted gold color. The fabulous beading combines clear, aurora borealis, and topaz-colored rhinestones with pearls and silver and gold glass beads and sequins—see my close-up photo. The sleeveless bodice of the dress has curved seams under the bust, to just above the waist, and is gently flared in an A-line shape to the hem. Since the dress is approximately a modern size medium, I have shown it both pinned and unpinned to the mannequin, to give a better idea of its actual size and shape. The dress is lined with a lightweight silk and rayon blend fabric, and is fastens with a metal zipper at the center back. In excellent to mint condition, unworn with tags still attached, this 1960s beaded cocktail mini-dress originally sold for $125—which is nearly $1200 in today’s money. It is quite well-made and lovely!
