This lace-trimmed empire waist Gunne Sax 1970s dress in white and ivory floral would make a darling casual wedding gown, as well as a cute prairie-style or boho party dress for any other occasion! The Edwardian style neckline is quite high and fitted, of sheer white net lace with lacy ruffled trim. A wide ruffle of ivory floral fabric drapes over the shoulders and bust, above the fitted, high or empire waist, which is cinched in back with a wide sash. The long sleeves have sheer net lace panels inset at the elbow. They are full from shoulder to forearm, with extra wide, fitted cuffs, from forearm to wrist, that fasten with 5 pearl buttons. The full, floor-length skirt is gathered into the empire waistband and it has a wide, lace-trimmed flounce at the hem. The semi-sheer, ivory and white floral fabric is a lightweight, cotton and polyester blend voile. The lower bodice and skirt are lined with white acetate taffeta; the sheer nylon lace panels and the voile sections of the sleeves are unlined. The dress fastens with a plastic zipper at the center back, as well as pearl buttons, which close the net lace section at the shoulders/neck. As you can see from the back view photos, this dress is too small to zip closed at the bust and the high waist/ribcage, on our mannequin. Please check the measurements carefully! It is in very good condition, with one tiny spot, hidden under the shoulder ruffle when worn (see close-up photo). Jessica McClintock/Gunne Sax was known in early 70s for for their “granny dresses” or prairie dresses, and this is a classic example of their early styles!
