This wool ladies’ suit jacket dates from the later half of the 1930s. The unusual wool has a “crosshatched” texture and the color is also unusual, a shade between orchid and mauve, shown most accurately in our close-up photo of the buttons. The jacket is hip-length, with a somewhat boxy silhouette. It has full-length, slightly tapered sleeves and puffed shoulders (but no shoulder padding), pointed lapels, large patch pockets and covered buttons. The jacket is fully lined in a matching shade of rayon taffeta fabric, which has some faded areas, the most noticeable being some discoloration at the back of neck, seen only from the inside. This versatile jacket could be paired with a simple skirt to create a suit look, or worn with pants for a more casual style. It is in very good condition, with no issues other than the lining discoloration.
