This 4-by-2, double-breasted, circa late 1930s or very early 1940s tuxedo is a classically elegant vintage dinner suit. The tuxedo is made of true black wool with ribbed black silk faille, slightly rounded, peaked lapels. The buttons have a ribbed texture, to match the lapels—a nice detail! The shoulders of the jacket are quite square and padded. It has two double-welt pockets and a single welt chest pocket. The high-waisted, long-rise, pleated-front pants have a faille “tuxedo stripe” to match the lapels. The trousers fasten with a single button and a heavyweight metal zipper, and have a watch pocket, as well as two double welt pockets in back, one with button closure. The suspender buttons inside the trousers are stamped “Hart, Schaffner & Marx”. The jacket is fully lined in what feels like rayon taffeta. The trousers are unlined. This pre-WWII era tuxedo is in excellent condition with no flaws to note.
