Late 1940s 50s strapless dress bolero novelty print | XS-S

1930s - 1940s Clothing

This late 1940s or early 1950s strapless novelty print cotton dress and bolero jacket set is made of black cotton with the most fabulous Asian-style design of green and metallic gold pagodas and foliage. Perfect for a sophisticated tiki party or summer evening event! The strapless sweetheart bodice is boned in front and back, and is shirred at the center front. The waist seam is straight across the natural waist in front, but dips a bit a bit lower in back. Below the waist, the skirt appears quite narrow in front, but is gathered into an intricate “bustle” effect in back—va-va-voom! The skirt is also a bit longer in back than it is in front. The dress fastens with a metal zipper at the center back. The matching cropped bolero jacket has a wide, rounded collar, short sleeves, and no fastenings. The lightweight cotton fabric of both pieces is unlined, although the boning on the dress bodice is covered with matching fabric. In amazing, excellent to mint condition, this late 1940s or early 50s novelty print strapless dress set appears hardly worn if at all.
