This late 1950s or early 1960s lambswool and angora blend sweater in rich royal purple is quite soft and lightweight, as implied by its cute label: “Lofties”! The ribbed knit, cowl neckline is decorated with four diamond-shaped shell buttons in matching purple and it comes to a point at the center front. The slightly slouchy, pullover style has two tiny buttons at the back of the collar as its only fastenings. The three-quarter-length sleeves and hem are finished with ribbed-knit bands. The sweater is unlined and it is in very good condition, with one tiny mend at the back of the right shoulder (see close-up photo). Paired with a skirt—like our purple wool pencil skirt, (details HERE)--this sweater would look great for work. Hello, early 1960s, Mad Men-era sexy secretary style, a la Joan! Pair the sweater with capri pants, though, and channel a late 1950s or early 1960s, more casual, beatnik style, perfect for lounging at home, listening to jazz records…
