Description
This luscious, lemon yellow bias-cut rayon 1940s nightgown features embroidered orchid and heart appliqués on its cream lace upper bodice-too sweet! This same sheer floral lace is also used for the extra wide, comfy shoulder straps. Tiny gathers shape the bust area, above a narrow underbust panel that curves upwards at the front waist. The back waist is a simple, straight seam. The slinky, lightweight bias cut rayon taffeta fabric has some give to it below the waist only, as reflected in my measurements. I acquired 2 of these lovely 1940s nightgowns, both deadstock/unworn. This gown does NOT still have its paper label, but I am including a photo of this label from the other gown, since it details care instructions that might be useful to the new owner. Although never worn the nightgown does have a small, faint rust-colored mark from its long storage, at the center-right front (see photos). The gown has no fastenings, and is designed to pull on over the head. Labeled a vintage size 34, I estimate that this true vintage 1940s rayon nightgown will fit a modern size XS, but please check the measurements for more details.
