This dark brown alligator handbag dates from the late 1950s or early 1960s, and it is a true vintage classic! Luxurious alligator bags like this one graced the arms of many a Hollywood starlet and society lady. The handbag was made by Bellestone, a New York-based manufacturer of finely crafted bags like this one, and specializing in exotic leathers and skins. The inside of the handbag is a soft, pale peachy-pink leather, with one zip-closed and three slip pockets, and a matching leather coin purse. The metal frame is covered in alligator, as is the rolled, rigid top handle. The bag fastens with a hinged clasp in gold metal. It has four tiny metal feet on its base, to help keep it upright. The surface of the alligator skins is still quite shiny and appears well kept, with just the very tip/edge of one scale slightly raised from the surface. The pink leather lining is in near-mint condition. The bag is in overall very good condition, with some minor scuffs to the surface from light use or storage, but no significant issues.
