Shiny metal studs accent the black rayon crepe of this versatile 1940s cocktail dress. Dress it up or down, for anything from a night out dancing to a fabulous holiday party! The lightweight crepe fabric will comfortable in all seasons. The short-sleeved bodice has a V neckline, with flattering gathers where it meets the front of the shoulders, and small shoulder pads. The skirt is shirred at each side of the front waist seam, adding extra fullness to its gently flared shape, in front only. A single diagonal pleat trims each hip pocket. The dress fastens with a button placket at the left side seam. The semi-sheer fabric is unlined—so you will probably want a slip underneath. Based on the bodice-length measurement, I think the dress will fit best for a petite or short-waisted person. It is in very good condition with 3 minor issues: some darkening to the shiny surface of the metal studs trim from normal wear/cleaning, a small “scuff” to the surface of the fabric below the waist seam in front, and 1 missing metal stud, which has left tiny holes where it used to be (see photos). This early 1940s dress is sturdy and quite wearable, ready for a night on the town!
