Description
This navy blue and off-white polka dots silk shantung 1950s dress is a shirtwaist style with a very full skirt. The fitted bodice has three-quarter-length sleeves, functional front buttons with bound buttonholes, and a rounded collar with long ends to tie in front, or pin with a brooch as shown. The rhinestone brooch and the crinoline used to show off the fullness of the skirt are not included with the dress—although they are available for sale. The bodice of the dress is unlined, but the skirt is backed with a single layer of navy tulle. The dress fastens with a metal zipper in the side seam. There are thread belt loops, but the original belt is missing. In very good condition, this classic 1950s full-skirted dress has one tiny spot on the back right side of the skirt (see photo), and a few pulled threads at the right side of the waist seam. It has been recently dry-cleaned and is ready to wear!
