This 1940s dress in navy blue rayon crepe is trimmed with gorgeous, iridescent “peacock” blue glass beads on the front of the V-neck bodice and the lower edge of the diagonal, front peplum. Based on the dress length, we believe it dates from the later half of the 1940s, post WWII. Multiple vertical darts shape the bust. The scalloped and floral design of the beading is quite pretty! The dress is unlined and fastens with two metal zippers: one at the left side seam and another at the back of the neck. In near excellent condition, the only two, minor issues with this lovely 1940s cocktail dress are:
1. The way the short sleeves are draped: our cleaner could not figure out how to press them, so they are a bit creased from the attempt. (You may have better luck, but they are certainly wearable as they are.)
2. On the back of the neckline interfacing, there is a name written faintly in pen or marker, which is not visible when the dress is worn. (See photos).
The fabric is a slightly darker navy blue in color, in person, but we have lightened the photos slightly to show more detail. The closest match to the actual color is in our side view photos.
