A beaded, navy blue wool gabardine suit from the late 1940s, this elegant skirt suit has a large, sailor-style collar with contrasting, inset red gabardine stripes and iridescent peacock blue glass bead trim. The hip-length jacket is double-breasted in style (with one set of functional buttons and one set merely decorative. It has large shoulder pads and decorative pocket flaps (no actual jacket pockets). The jacket is fully lined in navy rayon crepe. The longer-length pencil skirt is unlined and fastens with a metal side zipper. The skirt has a large amount of extra fabric inside its center back seam, so that is could be let out up to 3 inches, if needed (see close-up photo). This authentic 1940s suit is in excellent condition, with no flaws to note.
