This circa 1940s men’s cardigan sweater with a sporty zip-front design is made of navy blue wool. The cardigan has a “V” neckline and patch pockets. The silver metal zipper is in good working order and the cardigan is in very good condition, with one small hole in the left patch pocket (easily mendable). The zip-front style and “pleated” patch pockets make this sporty sweater a bit unusual. The tightly woven wool is labeled as “2 Ply”, and it is a medium-weight: about halfway between a lightweight jersey knit and a heavier, vintage letter sweater weight. This authentic 40s zip-front cardigan is a nice find for a collector and wearer of vintage 1940s menswear and/or sportswear. Check out what looks like almost the same cardigan in our last image, from a Winter 1940-41 Sears catalog!
