This unworn, deadstock 1950s novelty print cotton dress in navy blue features a darling design of suns, moons, and stars in shades of purple, aqua, yellow, and lavender. The suns are especially cute, with happy, smiling faces! The shirtwaist-style dress has a small, pointed collar and a v-neckline. Dark blue plastic buttons (non-functional) trim the front front, from bust to about mid-thigh length. The dress actually opens with side seam metal zipper. Below small shoulder pads, the short, puffed sleeves are gathered into flat, banded cuffs, which do have functional buttons. The waist is cinched with a narrow, self-fabric belt. The moderately full skirt has 3 small pleats on each side, where it meets the waist seam in front. The crisp cotton fabric is unlined. It still quite bright, since the dress was well-stored and never worn—although we have laundered it for freshness. This versatile 1950s dress is in excellent to mint condition, with no issues to note.
