Size: 7.5” wide by 6.25” tall by 3.75” deep, with an 11.5” top handle
This unique, black-painted wood box purse from the 1950s or 60s has a real or imagined, antique-style cityscape set under a panel of clear lucite. It may have a been a souvenir item purchased on a trip abroad, it may have been home-made—either way, it is probably made of a wooden cigar box, underneath the paint. The lucite panel on the front is held in a black metal frame, attached to the wooden box with rivets. A pearly dark grey lucite handle is affixed to the top of the bag, along with a gold metal turnlock clasp. The black felt lining is glued to the inside of the bag. In very good condition, this unusual, mid-century boxy handbag has some scuffs to the black painted exterior, and a few light scratches to the lucite top handle. A home-creation or a world-traveler’s souvenir, it is not like any other bag I have sold, in 25 years—a fun piece to add to your vintage handbag collection!
