This late 1980s or early 90s silk evening top covered in a jewel-toned patchwork of sequins is simply fabulous! The tunic-length top has a round neckline, large shoulder pads, long sleeves and a square hem, at about hip-length. The waist is just slightly nipped in, but the rest of the blouse is fairly straight in shape, from shoulders to hem. The neckline and sleeve hems are trimmed with tiny black glass beads. The rest of the top is totally covered in colorful squares of sequins: fuchsia, purple, and aqua, with polka dots of emerald green sequins around the outside of each square. It is fully lined in a second layer of black silk. So what about the gold and silver sequins that you can see in our photos? Well, some of the sequins have discolored, possibly from fading, or possibly from dry-cleaning, to the base color underneath their bold jewel-toned shades. (Some sequins are metallic gold underneath, and others appear more silver underneath—see close-up photos.) This color change is mostly confined to the lower front of the top and the left sleeve, with the back looking as originally intended. However, we think this color change looks kind of neat, and doesn’t really detract form the overall fabulousness of the top. It is in good, totally wearable condition, with no other issues to note.
