This soft peach silk and rose pink lace, late 1920s step-in slip is a wisp of loveliness! Designed as an all-in-one undergarment, for an era when those lucky enough to have the “correct” figure no longer needed to bother with the constricting shapewear of an earlier time, this simple slip with built-in gusset would do the whole job, worn under a flapper’s fabulous frock! The fine peach silk is lavishly appliquéd with cutouts of the same sheer pink lace that makes up the upper bodice (totally sheer over the bust—va-va-voom!) and trims the hem. Sheer panels of lace are also set into each side of the slip. The (currently rather long) length of the super-skinny straps can be adjusted by sewing down any extra, inside the slip (no slides, unlike a modern bra strap). The only fastenings are the two tiny shell buttons that open the center of the crotch gusset, for functionality. In amazing, very good condition, this sheer lace and silk 1920s step in slip has no issues other than some faint discoloration to the gusset (see close-up photo). It has been carefully hand-laundered and is clean, but some marks remain. If this bothers you, you could easily remove (and even replace) the gusset panels, since they are not visible when the slip is worn.
