This late 1950s or early 1960s pencil skirt in purple wool adds a fun texture to a fabulous color and a classic silhouette! The medium weight wool has a “cable” or “chain” type of weave in a vertical pattern, which looks like a purple-on-purple stripe from a distance. (The wool fabric is a woven, not a knit, so it has no stretch to it.) The “sexy secretary” style, straight or pencil skirt stops at about knee-length, with a kick pleat at the center back hem and a fitted waistband, fastened with a side metal zipper. The skirt is half-lined in acetate. It has been hemmed up quite a bit by the original owner, a full four inches--probably as the fashion in hem lengths changed, to keep up with the latest style. The skirt is in excellent condition—and it is also a great color match to our pullover, purple lambswool sweater, shown in our last photo. Details of sweater HERE.
