This colorful, psychedelic swirls print evening gown and cape from the early 1970s were made using a unique fabric: lace created by threading crisscrossed strands of white yarn behind an outer layer of stiff, white tulle, layered over a solid yellow, lightweight lining fabric for opacity. Before it was lined, this lace layer has been printed or painted with yellow, blue and green swirls. Adding to the unusual look of the dress, the hem has been finished in points, front and back, with slits at the side seams. The dress is gently fitted at the bust, waist and hips and the skirt flares just slightly from the hip to the pointed hem. The dress has a v-neckline in back and closes with a center plastic zipper. The matching short cape also has a pointed hem that ends just above the elbows and its small stand collar snaps closed at the narrow band across the front of the neck. In very good condition, the only issue with this set is some light discoloration to the dress at the edges of the underarms. This dress and cape will certainly draw all eyes whenever and wherever they are worn, so be ready for some attention!
