This purple and green “medallions” print rayon jersey, late 1930s dress has fabulous puffed shoulders, a fitted waist, and semi-full, swingy skirt. The three-quarter-length sleeves have “roll”-style shoulder pads creating the rounded, puffed shoulder line that is iconic to this era, circa late 1930s to very early 1940s. The high, draped neckline is bordered by rows of stitching, or shirring, along the top of each shoulder. The wide inset waist panel comes to a point at the center-front bust and the center of the waist. Gathers below the bust add shaping, and more shirring and gathering adds fullness to the skirt, below the flat waist panel. An attached gathered sash, in back only, fastens with a pretty row of blue glass buttons and loops. The rib-textured, lightweight rayon jersey is unlined. The dress fastens with a metal side zipper and another zip at the back of the neck. This lovely late 1930s dress is in excellent condition, with vibrant colors and true vintage, swing-era style!
