A rainbow stripe overall mini dress? Why, yes, it is! This early 1970s mini is hand knit from colorful wool in a rainbow stripe pattern, with mint green waistband and shoulder straps. The “bib” and short skirt sections are a flat knit, while the waistband and straps are a chunkier, textured knit. The overall or pinafore style will look great over a fitted turtleneck or other close-fitting top—the bib section is not really large enough to cover much when worn by itself, as shown! Although the dress is made of somewhat stretchy, wool knit fabric, there is a grosgrain band attached on the underside of the waistband that constrains the waist size; it does NOT stretch. The dress has a small metal zipper at the center back of the skirt. The straps may have stretched over time, as they are quite long, although shortening them would be relatively easy to do. The overly long straps are the only potential issue with this fun 70s mini-skirt dress, which is otherwise in excellent condition.
