This summery 1970s maxi dress by designer Rona in bright red floral cotton has never been worn and had a paper label from the original owner, dating it to 1978. The fabulous floral print cotton is very lightweight and the colors are very saturated. The bodice is made in two layers, with an outer layer that has short, flutter sleeves and drapes loosely from the shoulder to the waist, “floating” over the fitted, sleeveless under layer. The fitted waist is trimmed with a periwinkle blue ribbon sash that fastens in back over the plastic back zipper. The full-length skirt is gathered at the waist seam and is quite full. The skirt section of the dress is unlined. In excellent to mint condition, this never worn 70s maxi still has its hangtag attached, the price tag from luxury department store I. Magnin. Priced at $130 in 1978, this dress would cost nearly $500 (adjusted for inflation), if purchased today. It is lovely!
