This classic vintage frame bag from the early 1960s is made of soft leather in dark navy blue. The metal frame is completely covered in leather, aside from the hinged clasp on top. The single top handle is also leather, and fairly short in length—it’s definitely a handbag, not a shoulder bag! A silvertone metal accent trims the front of the bag. Inside, it is lined with colorful printed cotton and has one zip pocket. The maker’s name, “Saber” is printed on a metal plate attached to a leather tab inside. This nice quality 60s handbag has 4 metal feet on its base to help it stand up nicely. It is in excellent condition.
Ruth Saltz began designing handbags for her husband’s company, Saber Handbags, in the late 1950s. Read more about their design collaboration at Saber and about her later label, Ruth Saltz Designs, here: http://avintageramble.blogspot.com/2011/02/ruth-saltz-handbag-designer-true.html
