Label: Jacques Heim, Paris, Made in France
This early 1960s hat is a bubble crown or tall pillbox hat from designer Jacques Heim. It is made of salmon wool tweed fabric, trimmed with mod, gold metal squares. The extra tall crown is made in four triangular sections that come together at the center. (Inside the hat, underneath the ivory taffeta lining, you can see the seams in the wool.) It is designed to sit up very high and towards the back of the head, a classic pillbox shape, but with added volume and drama! This well-made hat is in very good to excellent condition, with some tarnish to the surface of the metal buttons, but no other issues.
