Label: Salvatore Ferragamo Firenze
A timeless classic, vintage designer handbag in fine quality leather, this 1960s bag by Salvatore Ferragamo combines a smooth black leather body and adjustable strap, with a front panel of soft, black suede. The bag has a mod 1960s, minimalist design, with clean lines, and a space-age-style clasp: a gold-tone metal hinge that folds over a leather-covered cylinder. The front envelope flap opens to reveal 2 leather-lined compartments, including 3 slip pockets and one zipper pocket—one slip pocket holds a removable coin purse or tiny, zippered wallet. The strap is adjustable from handbag to shoulder bag length, using the gold metal buttons (they function sort of like cufflinks, buttoning into the holes of the strap, as shown). The saddlebag-style purse is wider at the base than the top, with “accordion” ridges on the sides and base, formed by the separate interior compartments. In very good condition--and appearing hardly used, if at all--the bag has two minor issues: some very light scuffs to the leather of the front flap, and some green verdigris to the pulls of the zipper pocket and coin purse (both zippers work perfectly well, and this is only visible on the inside of the bag). This fab 1960s Ferragamo handbag comes with its original flannel protective bag—which may explain why it is in such great condition.
