Arleen’s 1950s uniform dress in chocolate brown rayon gabardine—appropriately “chocolate”, since it is a “Sealtest” Ice Cream company uniform dress! Featuring a chain stitch appliqué of the company name on the back of the bodice, this circa early 1950s dress ha a clean, simple style, with a high, mandarin collar, 2 tiny patch pockets, and a button front. The skirt flares gently from hips to hem, and the bodice is fitted with darts. The collar, cap sleeves, and pockets are all trimmed with khaki piping, and the buttons are covered in the same, contrasting, khaki rayon. Arleen’s name is embroidered onto a felt patch attached to the matching belt—so cute! The mid-weight rayon gabardine is unlined. The skirt hem has a wide, center back inverted pleat, and the center back bodice is gathered at the waist seam, both of which will facilitate more ease of movement. It is a uniform dress, after all—a lady’s got to be able to move in order to work! This unique, 1950s true vintage uniform dress is in very good to excellent condition, with minor signs of having been let out slightly at the sides of the skirt (see close-up photo—this is so faint that it was hard to capture with a camera).
