This super-soft, black sheared rabbit Russian style fur hat (sometimes called a Cossack style fur hat) by Irene of New York dates from around the early 1970s. The indented, round crown sits up rather high on the head when worn. The crown is a full 7 inches tall, but the lining has a band across the inside which does not allow it to pull down over the head further than a few inches, as shown—for a seriously dramatic look! (It fits more like a 1960s pillbox, towards the back of the head, rather than a cloche hat which pulls down low on the head.) The black taffeta lining and the full crown are both in excellent to mint condition, appearing hardly worn, if at all.
