Description
This early 1960s cocktail dress in black satin serves as the perfect backdrop for some fabulous beading—black glass, sequin, and rhinestone snowflakes! The ideal LBD for a winter holiday event, this sleeveless party dress features classic mid-century details like a scoop neckline, piping trim at its fitted waist, and a narrow, pencil-style knee-length skirt. Diagonal bust darts and small pleats above and below the waist seam add hourglass shaping. The mid-weight acetate satin fabric is lined with black silk. The dress fastens in back with a nylon zipper. In very good condition, the dress has one issue to note: a narrow band of fading along the left side of the skirt from hip to hem, from its long storage. I have tried to photograph the faded area in 3 different kinds of lighting (both with and without a flash under my bright photo lights, and also in natural light) to show it clearly. I believe that it will be somewhat less noticeable in normal/natural lighting, and on a body, than it is in my bright lighting, and in the flat lay photos. (I completely missed seeing this in person, when I originally examined the dress, for comparison.) This very wearable, beaded black 1960s evening dress is quite sturdy, and recently dry-cleaned with no problems. I did tighten up a few loose sequins and replaced 3 tiny rhinestone centers in the snowflakes. This would a wonderful vintage dress to wear to a winter wedding or holiday cocktail party!
