This elegant wrap or shawl in turquoise blue, medium-weight wool dates from the late 1950s to the late 1960s, and is most likely South or Central American in origin. The wide stole or wrap can be worn with everything from casual to formal wear, and in most seasons, either alone as a shawl, or over another outerwear layer as a large scarf. Braided fringe trims each end of the rectangular shawl, and is knotted into chunky tassels. The wool itself is very soft, but the texture of the weave is somewhat “rustic”. Minor variations in color appear to be the result of variations in the natural wool color showing through the aqua blue dye. In excellent condition, this 1950s-60s stole or wrap will be a versatile addition to your wardrobe. Throw this vibrantly-colored shawl on over jeans and a tee, or an evening gown—either way, it’s a beauty!
