A deadstock, unworn 1950s day dress in crisp black cotton piqué, this full-skirted frock has a flattering, square collar in contrasting off-white, ribbed cotton with floral crochet lace trim. The cap-sleeved bodice is fitted with vertical darts above the front and back of the waist, and has a faux button-front design (buttons are non-functional). A narrow, self-fabric belt cinches the fitted waist seam. Below, the skirt has lots of flat pleats that create its fairly full (but not “circle skirt”) silhouette. The dress is unlined and is fastened at the side seam with a metal zipper. Our last photo shows the dress unpinned from the mannequin, to give a better idea of its actual size. In excellent to mint, never worn condition, this deadstock 1950s dress has the slight stiffness of its original fabric finish still intact. The 100% cotton fabric will soften up with future laundering, but for now, it is crisp and pristine!
