Size: 5.5’ tall (without strap) by 5” in diameter at base with 4.5” long strap
Label: Made in Hong Kong
This gatefold white evening bag from the 1960s is a great example of 1960s-does-1920s style—it is very similar in shape to 1920s bags of the same basic type, but made of crochet-beaded raffia instead of tiny seed glass beads. The white faceted plastic beads are woven into the crocheted raffia straw, both on the round-based body of the bag and on the single top handle or short wrist strap. The bag opens with a round “gatefold” top in gold metal. It is lined with white faille fabric and is labeled as made in Hong Kong. The circular base has been left un-beaded, so that may better sit flat on a table or other surface. It is in excellent to mint condition, appearing never used. This petite, 1960s white beaded purse is perfect for any spring or summer evening event, and it can masquerade rather well as a 1920s evening bag, in a pinch!
