Size: total necklace length is 60”
Beads size: floral beads measures 1” by .75” and white glass beads measure .5” in diameter
This ultra-feminine, extra long 1930s meets 1970s/80s necklace combines white glass beads, gold chain links, and unusual, rhinestone-trimmed, floral-design, gold metal filigree-style beads that are hollow inside. The chunky, white (probably Czech) glass beads are somewhat irregular in size and shape, and show a just a bit of wear to their surfaces and some verdigris/discoloration around their drilled holes, where they are attached to the metal chain links. There is also some minor enamel loss to the floral beads’ surfaces. All of the beads, both glass and floral metal, are “hardwired” on to the narrower chain sections, meaning they are fixed in place and not “strung” on the chain. The necklace fastens with a spring ring (or “sport ring”) clasp. Looking closely at the links, I believe that the older, circa 1930s bead elements and clasp have been re-purposed using circa 1970s or 1980s “paper clip” chain links. Regardless, this lovely white floral and glass beads, longer-length necklace is in good, totally wearable condition, and would look great with summery 1920s and 1930s styles. Bring on the beach pajamas and garden party frocks!
