This late 1940s or very early 1950s dress in a classic shirtwaist style is made of lightweight, semi-sheer, white and purple floral rayon. The dress has short, cuffed sleeves, small shoulder pads, and single pleats at the front of each shoulder, just above where the sleeves start. It fastens down the front with dark navy blue plastic buttons, from the V-neckline to the hem. The waist is cinched with a narrow, self-fabric belt, which has yellowed a bit from the backing material. The skirt section flares gently from hips to hem. This late 40s/early 50s day dress is in good, wearable condition--but it has been worn and well loved, with these issues to note: the yellowed belt (as mentioned above), a tiny bit of yellowing at the edge of the underarm seam, 2 very light spots on the bodice, near the buttons in front (see close-up buttons/bodice photo), some light wear to the fabric at the inside/back of the neck and a worn area at one section of the hem (hem section of wear has been inexpertly mended, but appears stable, currently). None of these issues should be very noticeable when the dress is worn, and the assorted purple flowers of the print are certainly pretty!
