Description

A black fur felt ladies’ fedora hat from the late 1930s or early 1940s, this wide-brimmed style has a graceful and mysterious, downturned shape to its slightly asymmetrical brim, which measures 1 inch wider in front than in back. The tall and tapered crown has a witchy vibe and a “telescope” indented, round flat top. The deep crown is designed to sit up high on the head; it is too small to pull down low like a cloche. The back of the crown is a bit deeper and curved to rest comfortably on the back of the head when worn. See photos, with the hat tilted at multiple angles, either forward or backwards. The soft brim could also be flipped up on 1 side, if you prefer. I have left it turned down, since that is how is appears to have been blocked. On its underside, the hat has a narrow band of grosgrain ribbon edging the fitted section that extends a bit outward from/below the brim on all sides, and hugs the head. This soft understructure will help keep the hat in place when tilted on your head. The soft black fur felt is unlined. This dramatic wide-brimmed women’s fedora hat is in excellent condition and would look fabulous paired with a late 1930s or 1940s skirt suit—very femme fatale!
