Description

This novelty print cotton 1950s halter dress has a geometric cubes--or is it six-pointed stars?--optical illusion design in vibrant shades of violet purple, rose red, turquoise, and yellow, plus black and white. The fitted V-neck bodice has a large, wide collar that folds over the back of the halter strap, which has no fastenings, pulling on over the head. The calf-length skirt is semi-full, flared from waist to hem below the fitted waist seam. The dress is shown here over a moderately fluffy crinoline (not included), but the skirt section is definitely not a full circle shape. There are 2 side seam pockets at the hips—hooray! The lightweight, plain weave cotton fabric is unlined. The dress closes in back with a nylon zipper, which is a more modern replacement. I’d be happy to include a metal zipper of the correct length, if you would prefer to replace this. Just let me know! This true vintage 1950s cotton sundress is in excellent condition, with no issues to note other than the replacement zipper. I have left the bodice of the dress unpinned from the mannequin in some of my photos, to give a better idea of its actual size, which I estimate to be a modern medium. Please check the detailed measurements below for more sizing info!
