Description
A feminine, flared cotton piqué skirt form the late 1940s, this cutie has a flounced hem, and a kinetic floral print of black tulips on a light aqua background. The skirt has a wide, fitted waistband that fastens with small snaps at the side seam, above a metal zipper. The skirt shape below the waistband is gently flared from hips to ruffled hem. This “peasant style” skirt is the perfect happy medium, halfway between a pencil and a circle skirt! The mid-weight cotton piqué fabric is unlined.
The skirt was probably home-sewn, but nicely done. In good, sturdy and very wearable condition, this late 1940s floral print skirt has 2 areas of subtle yellowing on the fabric from its long storage (see close-up photos). Cotton piqué is a wonderful fabric for warmer weather wear, since its stays relatively crisp, even on the hottest days!
