Description
This deadstock, unworn orlon knit 1950s cardigan sweater in bright aqua blue is trimmed with off-white satin and lace appliqués, and tiny prong-set rhinestones. The sweater has ribbed trim on its round neckline, sleeve cuffs and hem. The hem is designed to be fitted at more-or-less the natural waist when the sweater is closed with the matching aqua plastic buttons, as shown. Left unbuttoned, it will drape a bit lower. The soft orlon acrylic knit is unlined. This cute, lightweight cardigan will be great for layering in spring and summer, or in a warmer climate. The satin trim was loose in some places when I found the sweater, so I have tacked it down all over, to make sure it stays in place. The original size label reads 38, and I believe that the sweater will fit best for a modern small to medium. Please check the measurements below for sizing details. In very good, unworn condition, the sweater has one tiny snag in the knit on the back of the right sleeve (see close-up photo). This sweet 1950s cardigan sweater will be best preserved by laundering gently, preferably by hand, inside out, to keep the lacy trim from catching on the rhinestones, and to keep the fine orlon knit from pilling too much.
