Description
This flirty and feminine, late 1970s or early 80s floral print dress by Susan or Diane Freis for Assorti features a ruffle-trimmed, deep V surplice neckline and a full skirt with pleated panels at the hem. The semi-sheer, lightweight fabric is the designer’s preferred polyester georgette. It mixes 2 prints: the majority of the dress uses an orchid pink-purple print of violets on a black background, accented with a teal and black abstract print on the double-ruffled collar, the shirred elastic waist panel, and the pleated sections of the hem. The dress bodice has a shoulder yoke panel at both front and back. The bodice and sleeves are trimmed with a few scattered gold sequins. (There may have perhaps been more sequins originally, but there is no evidence of any missing.) The elbow-length puffed sleeves have elastic at the cuffs. The elastic in the cuffs and waist shirring is still quite good. Other than the Freis sisters’ signature beaded neck ties, the dress has no fastenings, designed to pull on over the head. It is in excellent condition.
