Description

Shirtdress, dressing gown, or long jacket—you decide! This luscious silk satin 1960s butterfly brocade button-front garment by Dynasty is too beautiful for only wearing at home! The mid-weight creamy beige silk is woven with several types of golden butterfly designs, including lovely swallowtail butterflies (see close-up fabric photo). The dress or knee-length dressing gown unbuttons completely from neck to hem with self-fabric knot buttons. The high collar has a long, ascot-like scarf attached on each end, to tie in front. The elbow-length sleeves have trompe l’oeil cuffs (sewn on, not turned up). The dress has 2 curved pockets with narrowing piping trim, one over each high hip in front. Vertical darts shape the shoulders and bust area--the area with the relatively smallest fit (see measurements). The dress is intended to have a somewhat loose fit, as shown, and is slightly flared from bust to hem. I cannot truly describe how lovely the silk satin fabric feels to the touch—you will just have to feel it for yourself! The dress is unlined, and the satin fabric has a more crisp taffeta texture on its back, to slide easily over the body when worn. In excellent condition, this early 1960s Asian-inspired silk satin brocade dress or robe has been freshly dry-cleaned, and has no issues to note.
