Description
A darling deadstock early 1950s day dress, this black cotton cutie features a print of candy pink butterflies! The shirtwaist style bodice unbuttons to the waist seam with faceted plastic buttons. It has small shoulder pads, short sleeves, and pink topstitching on the pointed collar and turned up cuffs. The 7-gore skirt is gently flared from hips to hem in more of an A-line silhouette than a full circle shape. The crisp black cotton fabric is unlined. The dress fastens with a metal zipper in the left side seam, along with the bodice buttons. A self-fabric belt cinches the fitted waist. Unworn and with its original paper hangtag, the dress has been laundered for freshness. It was found in a dress shop that had been closed since the 70s or 80s and was quite dusty. Now the dress clean and ready to wear! It is in near excellent, unworn condition, with 1 very small mend at the left front hip (see close-up photo). I have included photos of this true vintage butterflies novelty print cotton 1950s dress both clipped and unclipped from the mannequin, to better show its actual size and shape.
