Description
This go-go girl shift style 1960s mini dress features illusion panels of “nude” mesh and sparkling rhinestones at its front and back V neckline and sleeves. A small stand collar, the sleeve cuffs, and the body of the dress are made of black acetate crepe. Ending well above the knee on my tall mannequin, this is a true minidress. The overall shape of the dress is designed to be loose-fitting, but the shoulders and three-quarter-length sleeves are quite small and narrow. The fishnet and (nylon?) mesh has no stretch. The dress fastens in back with a plastic zipper and hooks at the collar. The narrow sleeve cuffs close with small snaps. The crepe body of the dress is lined with a lightweight black poly-cotton blend muslin-type fabric.
In very good condition, freshly dry-cleaned and ready to wear, the dress does have some issues with the mesh lining in the neckline, both front and back. The metal hardware of the prong-set rhinestones has left pale rust-colored tarnish marks onto the “nude” mesh fabric during its long storage, and in some places has made small holes in the mesh. This is not seen from the outside, but is pretty widespread (see my photos). This mesh lining could be removed of course, but I recommend leaving it intact unless you plan to replace it, in order to protect your skin from the metal hardware. The rhinestones and fishnet outer layer is sturdy and looks great. This marvelously mod 1960s mini cocktail dress has no other issues to note. It would be spectacular for a 1960s-themed party or photo shoot! Please check the measurements of the sleeves and shoulders carefully for best fit, since these are the smallest areas.
