Description

This early 1950s dress in black lace has a femme-fatale-worthy, hourglass silhouette, with a sassy horizontal hip pleat and a fishtail hem in back! The bodice features a square neckline and cap sleeves, with darts shaping the bust and waist above the horizontal pleat. 2 small pockets are set into the hip pleat—hooray for dresses with pockets! Below the hip pleat, the skirt is straight in front, but has a pleated panel at the center back, to create the fishtail effect. A cute little bow trims the top of fishtail panel, which is several inches longer than the rest of the skirt, as you can see in the side and back view photos. The sheer black floral rayon lace is fully lined with black rayon taffeta. There are 3 small mends in this taffeta lining fabric which are not seen when the dress is worn, due to the pattern of the lace overlay. The largest of the mends is about 1 inch long—see my close-up photo. The lace overlay fabric is sturdy and has no issues. This black lace 1950s cocktail dress is in very good condition, freshly drycleaned and ready to wear!
