Description
This early 1960s fascinator or cocktail hat by Mr. John features a swirl of fluffy black ostrich feathers floating on top of a stiff mesh base. Black velvet piping trims the edge of the small, round understructure, which is designed to sit on top of the head as shown. You could of course wear it tilted more forward, but you’ll probably need some hairpins or hatpins to keep it in place, regardless. 2 small lucite combs are attached underneath, to help with this. The lavish feather trim is somewhat asymmetrical, which I believe is at least partially original to the hat design. A few of the feathers have not held their black dye as well as others, and appear brownish-black, rather than the true black of the rest. In very good condition, this lightweight 1960s feathered hat will add a touch of whimsy and fabulousness to your cocktail or evening attire!
